A few types of Ignition coils ( Zündspule, Bobine, Bobina).
Used with the points and distributor to get a spark on both sides.
Need to be cleaned often because of wear and deposits of graphite !
Types
- Ignition coil “old type” 6V 3 Ohm, used with points and distributor.
- Ignition coil “Honda” 6-12V 3 Ohm, used with points, distibutor and rotor removed.
- Ignition coil “Ukranian” 6V 1.1 Ohm used with Halsensor or RU electronic ignition.
- Ignition coil “for Fiat” 12V 1.5 Ohm used with Halsensor.
The old type is commonly used and available from brands like Bosch, Lucas, NGK……
The “Honda coil” is a good replacement for not too much money, search for CA/CB/CBR and you will find one easy on the internet. Connections: flat connectors and pin to screw sparkplug cable in with plastic cap . note: works well allthough it’s a 6-12V 3 Ohm!
The “Ukranian coil” might be hard to get with all the **** that is going on, you can buy it separate or together with an electronic system. Connections: flat connectors and pin to screw sparkplug cable in with plastic cap .
The “Fiat coil” is also for an electronic or Halsensor system and a very cheap one too ! Look for a coil for a Fiat Punto,Panda and you will find loads of it. Magneti Marelli, Hella, Champion and so on. Connections: Din and HT leads.
12V 1-1.5 Ohm Ignition coils are no problem to use on 6V ! But 12V 3 Ohm will not work because of of a very weak spark.
