How much, will be the question for some of us !?
So, I put this page together to give you answers on that question.
In all cases,…….. Always check the dipstick !!…….(when there is one)
Whether it’s after an oilchange or for regular maintenance.
Checking the oil level should be done on a cold engine
Level should be to top mark on dipstick (when not screwed in)
Always use a CLEAN measuring vessel and DO NOT OVERFILL !
If it’s leaking, there’s oil in it !
Especially for the older types, a mineral oil is preferable.
Even better a mineral monograde oil, SAE 50 in summer and SAE 30 in winter !
When a deeper oilpan is used 0.6 L or 1.5 L has to be added, the amount depends on the pan used ! (see updates sidevalves)
This goes for every engine that has a bigger sump/pan.
Early gearboxes and final drives do not have a dipstick. In some cases you should check visual or use a screwdriver to check the oil level !

IZH- ИЖ and other 2 strokes
Fuel mixture according to manuals 1:25
Note: But with modern premium 2 stroke oils that seems to be too rich ! I got info from several sources that 3% two stroke oil mixed in the fuel is enough, in other words 1:33 Some riders use less oil and go to 1:40 or even 1:50, be careful with that! JD mentioned high temperatures could be a risk for a leaner mixture, so keep that in mind too !

NOTES:
Sadly only available in a few countries, Triboron, see https://www.triboron.com/
Especially for 2-strokes it seems to work terrific, reduces smoke and emission and mechanical friction !
But also for 4-stroke engines there’s an additive, fuel Formula, it saves fuel, reduces mechanical friction.
